Tech Review BlackBerry OS 7.1

Research in Motion has recently launched the latest update to its mobile operating system on the BlackBerry platform. The smart phone company has also launched a series of new devices that come enabled with the latest operating system in both 2G and 3G versions. Users looking to enjoy the latest features available on BlackBerry will have to shell out a few hundred dollars on the new device since older versions are not upgradable to the recent launch. The highest OS that you can upgrade your older phone to is 6 which is a stripped down version of what is available on the OS 7.1.

BlackBerry is said to have made the cheapest smart phones in the market today, staying ahead of competitors both in cost and features. Its major challengers in the mobile operating system market are Android for mobile and iOS which is available only on the Apple iPhone. Each of these has an uplink for downloading applications on your smart phone device. Android apps are available on Google Play (from the Google.com homepage) while the Apple Store and BlackBerry App Store can be reached on the desktop and on the phone. Each of these phones also provides native browser and integrated social feeds and networking sites.

The OS 7.1 provides a smoother experience using either the track pad or the touch screen that is available in higher models. Some new features have been introduced in the latest BlackBerry that is not available in previous OS. The search bar on the homepage is a dynamic toolbar that also doubles as a notifications tray. It displays notification icons for Facebook, Twitter, BBM, text messages, and configured emails. There is also a search shortcut to the right of it and a shortcut to sound profiles on the phone to the left. The usual home screen details are displayed in the topmost bar which is also a drop down button that opens up your Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and connection settings.

Research in Motion has developed the latest operating system keeping in mind the changing trends in the smart phone market. With Android letting users have and customize several home screens that can be accessed with the swipe motion, BB 7.1 also allows you to navigate across Home, Favorites, Downloads, and Media with the track pad motion. Any website page, pre loaded software, or downloaded app can be added to the favorites tab for single click access from the home screen. The latest OS also has default search for QWERTY keys that searches all folders, files, phonebook, and recent browsing history.

The Review of Asus Zenbook Prime UX31A - The Impressive Ultrabook With Very Fast Performance

As being the successor of the first UX31 laptop, the Asus Zenbook Prime UX31A features a few major developments. The vendor mentioned that it is generally the series of compact PC ultra-book which will have the great potential to match up the popularity of Apple's MacBook Air notebook series. Hence, let us take a peek at below specs overview of this compact ultra-book to determine if it is real challenger of MacBook Air.

Design

Like the forerunner, the Asus Zenbook Prime UX31A comes packed with the compact all-aluminum material with the dimension of 13.3 x 8.9 x 0.44-0.66 inches and weight of approximately 3 pounds. The screen measures 13.3 inches (Full HD IPS) with the max screen resolution of 1920x1080 pixels that can allow for the clean 1080p video playback along with the great viewing angles (wide 178-degree). The screen provides the impressive brightness with its 423 lux which is greater than the MacBook Air (285 lux). On the drawbacks, you'll experience that the touchpad (4.1" x 2.8") can be unreliable sometimes, however, the keyboard is pretty comfy to utilize and it has been added with the back-light feature.

General Performance

To boost the overall performance, this ultra-book has been loaded with the 3rd generation of Intel Core i7 and also the 4 GB of RAM (DDR3). This processor can supply the increased graphics performance with the Intel HD Graphics 4000 technology so it will be running properly when playing 3D games, displaying high-quality image and watching HD videos. For saving files, there'll be the 128 GB of SSD that will provide the finest read speeds of 550 MB per second as well as the highest write speeds of 500 MB per second. For the operating system, it comes pre-installed with the Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) along with the Microsoft Office 2010 (trial version).

Battery Life

In terms of battery power, this product comes packed with the non-removable battery pack of 50 Wh that will last for approximately 6.5 hours on one charge. As the comparison, the MacBook Air lasts around 6 hours and 25 min while the original model can last for 5 hours and 58 min.

Internet Access and Connectivity Tools

In order to access the internet, customers can make use of the Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/a and there will be also the full connectivity slots including 2x USB 3.0, mini VGA, mini display port, micro HDMI as well as the 3.5 mm microphone/headphone combo. Distinct from the Acer Aspire Timeline Ultra M3, this ultra-book sadly doesn't have DVD-ROM.

Price and Verdict

The selling price of Asus Zenbook Prime UX31A is around $1.099. The main advantages of this compact ultra-book will be the very vibrant and stunning IPS display, great wide viewing angles, fast Core i7 processor, crystal clear speakers, and longer battery life. On the other hand, this ultra-book comes loaded with the terrible touchpad, relatively sluggish SSD's transfer rate and the web camera is rather unpleasant especially when it is used in low-light condition.

The New iPad Review - Should You Purchase Apple's New Tablet?

The new iPad has a number of new features such as quad-core graphic processing, an improved Retina display, 5 megapixel iSight camera, 4G mobile broadband among others. But how does the new iPad compare to the iPad 2?

Processor
The new iPad and iPad 2 are a match on the speed front because they both have dual-core processors. However, the new iPad has a quad-core GPU that is responsible for the tablets clearer and smoother images.

Display
The new iPad has an improved Retina display that has a screen resolution of 2048-by-1536 at 264 pixels per inch, whereas the iPad 2 also features Retina display with a screen resolution of 1024-by-768. The 3rd generation iPad has four times more pixels and 44 percent greater color saturation than the 2nd generation iPad.

At a normal viewing distance, you can't discern the individual pixels on the latest iPad, whereas on the 2nd generation iPad you can discern the pixels although not clearly. The new iPad thus has razor-sharp text and smoother images than the iPad 2.

Cameras
The 3rd generation iPad has a 5-megapixel iSight camera that has build-in face detection, backside illumination sensor and autofocus. The camera records high-definition video in full 1080p with 30 frames per second recording quality.

The 2nd generation iPad on the other hand has low quality cameras that are at best ideal for FaceTime calls and possibly Skype. They cannot be relied upon to take quality still and video shot - they offer 720p video recording quality.

Battery Life
On a standard test with wireless on, a video playing on loop, and brightness set at 60 percent. The 3rd generation iPad lasted for 10 hours and 36 minutes, whereas the 2nd generation iPad lasted for 10 hours and 28 minutes.

This is a slightly more than the manufacturers battery life estimate of 10 hours. On normal use therefore, both touch tablets can give you an hour or so over the manufacturers battery life estimate of 10 hours.

Connectivity
The new iPad supports 4G LTE, 3G, and Wi-Fi networks worldwide and has antennas that access a larger frequency spectrum than those of the 2nd-generation iPad. You can use the tablet as a personal hotspot and connect up to five devices over Bluetooth, USB, or Wi-Fi.

The iPad 2 supports 3G and Wi-Fi cellular networks the world over, and Bluetooth for short-range wireless interconnection. Both touch tablet computers support AirPlay streaming on the new Apple TV.

Check out the new iPad review for full details on the tablet and its availability. Find out the slashed iPad 2 prices and where to purchase iPad 2.
